Abstract

The harvested area for rice in 2020 was 143.28 thousand hectares, a decrease of 2.87 thousand hectares or 1.96 percent compared to 2019 which amounted to 146.16 thousand hectares.
Rice production in 2020 amounted to 457.95 thousand tons of milled dry unhulled rice (GKG), an increase of 14.39 thousand tons or 3.24 percent compared to 2019 which amounted to 443.56 thousand tons of GKG.
When viewed from the subround, there was an increase in rice production in the September-December 2020 subround, which amounted to 59.05 thousand tons of GKG (62.46 percent) compared to 2019. The decrease occurred in the January-April and May-August subrounds, respectively 25, 63 thousand tons of GKG (16.83 percent) and 19.03 thousand tons of GKG (9.67 percent).
If converted into rice for the population's food consumption, rice production in 2020 will amount to 270.63 thousand tons, an increase of 8.50 thousand tons or 3.24 percent compared to 2019 which amounted to 262.12 thousand tons.
The potential for rice production in the January-April 2021 subround is estimated at 141.59 thousand tons of GKG, an increase of 14.98 thousand tons or 11.83 percent compared to the same subround in 2020 of 126.62 thousand tons of GKG.

In 2024, shelled maize harvested area is around 8.39 thousand hectares and dry-shelled maize production with a 14 percent moisture content is approximately 44.00 thousand tons

Provisional Figures: The rice harvest area in 2021 is estimated at 125.31 thousand hectares with a production of 400.44 thousand tons of GKG. If converted into rice, rice production in 2021 is estimated to reach 236.64 thousand tons.
