Abstract

The workforce in February 2021 amounted to 1,413.78 thousand people, an increase of 32.34 thousand people compared to August 2020. In line with the increase in the number of the workforce, the Labor Force Participation Rate also increased to 69.44 percent, an increase of 1.04 percent. points compared to August 2020.

The Open Unemployment Rate was 4.25 percent, a decrease of 0.33 percentage points from the situation in August 2020.

The working population was 1,353.63 thousand people, an increase of 35.49 thousand people compared to August 2020.

The main jobs with the largest increase in the percentage of workers are the Wholesaler and Retail category; Car and Motorcycle Repair and Maintenance, which added 1.39 percentage points, while the largest decline was in the Agriculture category (reduced by 3.48 percentage points).

A total of 769.18 thousand people (56.82 percent) of the population work in informal activities, an increase of 1.03 percentage points compared to August 2020.

The percentage of underemployed workers decreased by 1.85 percentage points, while part-time workers increased by 0.29 percentage points compared to August 2020.

There are 109.90 thousand people (5.4 percent of the working age population) who have been affected by Covid-19. The population affected by Covid-19 consists of Unemployment due to Covid-19 (1.43 thousand people), Not the Labor Force because of Covid-19 (3.99 thousand people), While Not Working because of Covid-19 (11.9 thousand people, and reduction of working hours due to Covid-19 (92.58 thousand people).
