Abstract

In October 2023, the combined cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit experienced inflation of 0.57 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 118.07. Of the 90 CPI cities, 69 cities experienced inflation, while 21 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Gorontalo at 1.00 percent with a CPI of 114.36 and the highest deflation occurred in Tual at 1.08 percent with a CPI of 118.61.
  • The combined inflation in the cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit in October 2023 occurred due to an increase in the price index in the food, beverage and tobacco group (1.31 percent), transportation group (0.88 percent), recreation, sports and culture group (0, 50 percent), food and beverage/restaurant provision group (0.13 percent), health group (0.12 percent), housing, water, electricity and household fuel group (0.10 percent), equipment and routine household maintenance group (0.08 percent), clothing and footwear group (0.05 percent), and education group (0.03 percent).
  • Calendar year inflation (October 2023 to December 2022) for the combined cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit was recorded at 2.10 percent and year-on-year inflation (October 2023 to October 2022) was 2.51 percent.
  • Commodities that will contribute to inflation in October 2023 include rice, purebred chicken, gasoline, cayenne pepper, nila fish, long beans, air transportation, baung fish, snakehead fish and potatoes.
  • Commodities that will contribute to deflation in October 2023 include shallots, purebred chicken eggs, garlic, layang fish, eggplant, cooking oil, tongkol/ambu-ambu fish, cell phones, catfish, and women's Muslim clothes.
