Abstract

In May 2023, the combined inflation for the City of Palangka Raya and Sampit was 0.28 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 117.09. Of the 90 CPI cities in Indonesia, 77 cities experienced inflation, while 13 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan by 1.28 percent with a CPI of 119.76, while the deepest deflation occurred in Kupang by 0.79 percent with a CPI of 113.53.
  • The combined inflation for the City of Palangka Raya and Sampit in May 2023 occurred due to an increase in the price index in the food, beverage and tobacco group (1.29 percent), the food and beverage/restaurant supply group (0.16 percent), the personal care group and other services (0.08 percent), as well as the health group (0.01 percent).
  • Calendar year inflation (May 2023 to December 2022) for the combined cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit was recorded at 1.25 percent and year-on-year inflation (May 2023 against May 2022) was 4.17 percent.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation in May 2023 include rice, purebred chicken, shallots, watermelon, snakehead fish, kale, spinach, cucumber, live/free-range chicken, and garlic.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation in May 2023 include air transportation, cooking oil, household fuels, cayenne pepper, cellular phones, children's shoes, intercity transportation, children's toys, wet shrimp and cement.
